Scott Lozanoff

Professor Scott Lozanoff of JABSOM Department of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology is a creative teacher who exudes a passion for teaching and has been applying novel principles to the teaching of medical students prior to the COVID pandemic. When the pandemic infiltrated Oʻahu, he leveraged that knowledge and skill to the subject of anatomy that relies so heavily on spatial relations between organs and tissues. Professor Lozanoff leads by example in respecting the generous body donors to the Willed Body Program that serve as silent teachers to the students at JABSOM, and in that spirit, generated 3D models so that all medical students were able to benefit from cadaver dissection through online lab sessions and taped lectures. This was necessary as covid rushed the implementation of Lazanoff’s innovations in anatomical imagery already in process to accompany case studies that contributes to the education of medical school students who express that Lozanoff’s visionary methods should be used outside of pandemic conditions.
